Anna (Muraco) Merino, of Melrose, died at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on January 7, 2013 at the age of 101. Anna was born & raised in Winchester and attended Winchester Schools. She resided in Melrose for 25 years, Florida for 17 years and Las Vegas for 33 years, where she managed the Nevada Square Apartments on the Las Vegas Strip for 25 years. Anna also worked at the Basin Harbor Club in VT, Wianno Country Club on Cape Cod and the Weekapaug Inn in RI. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Melrose, St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, Melrose Emblem Club, Guardian Angels Cathedral in Las Vegas and active at the Milano Senior Center in Melrose. Anna was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Merino for 69 years. Loving mother of Marie A. Ryan & her late husband Paul and Barbara Bernardi & her husband Father John, all of Melrose. Devoted sister of Theresa Nappa of Melrose, Frances Sylvester of Malden and the late Grace Mistretta, Phillip Muraco, Mary Casalinuovo, Francis Muraco and Gaspar Muraco. Caring sister in law of Florence Muraco of Woburn, Virginia DiGiammarino of Malden. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, the late Nicholas Amirault, 8 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Jan. 12th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 3-7PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
