Curriculum Director Search Committee Needs Volunteers

The Superintendent of Schools is announcing the formation of a Search Committee for the position of Director of Curriculum. The composition of the committee is as follows:
- Chair - Central Office Administrator appointed by the Superintendent
- Two Professional Status Teachers appointed by the Superintendent
- One School Committee Member appointed by the Melrose School Committee Chair
- Two Administrators appointed by the Melrose Association of School Administrators
- One Parent appointed by the City-wide PTO
- Two Community Reps appointed by the Melrose School Committee Chairwoman
- One Expert in the Field appointed by the Superintendent
Those who are interested in serving on the committee are invited to submit their name and a letter of intent to principalsearch@melrose.mec.edu summarizing what they can add to the committee. Please reference Curriculum Director in the subject line.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 7, 2012.

I hope Melrose hires a person from outside the city who has proven experience and a track record as a Curriculum Director in another district. This is a critically important position espeially in a school department which needs to hire 3 elementary principals and will be under new leadership with Superintennt Taymore. It is not a time to promote from within an individual who has not previously held a Curriculum Director Job.
