The New England Aquarium Whale Game Show

Did you know there was a full-size right whale in the All-Purpose Room at Horace Mann? Did you know there are only 400 right whales left on the planet?  Horace Mann students know this as well as many other whale facts.  The New England Aquarium came to Horace Mann on January 16 to test the knowledge of Horace Mann students during a whale trivia game show.  Students were divided into three teams, Team Pilot Whale, Team Minke Whale, and Team Dolphin.  Students did an excellent job working together to answer the questions.  The NE Aquarium staff shared amazing information from their research with the students. Students learned about "Calvin", a right whale who has endured a lot and recently gave birth to her calf, "Hobbs".  Ask your student about the surprise ending, the staff brought a full-size right whale with them! The students were shocked to see Calvin in our all-purpose room!  It was a life-size inflatable whale that students were able to walk all the way around.  Thank you to the New England Aquarium for visiting Horace Mann!
