Shaws Hosts Melrose High Students running Peanut Butter Valentine Drive
The “Peanut Butter Valentine” Servants Heart Food Drive is off to a fantastic start this year. On Saturday, February 2nd Shaw’s Supermarket hosted the Melrose High School students spearheading the Peanut Butter Valentine Drive for the Servants Heart Food Pantry. Patrons of Shaw’s supermarket truly have heart; donating approximately 300 jars and cans of shelf items for the pantry!(101 of which were Peanut Butter)! The managers at Shaw’s, Robert Davenport Dave Del Belbene welcomed the students with open arms allowing them to fan the store identifying choice pantry items with hearts and signage. Patrons were gracious and generous and demonstrated that Melrose is a truly welcoming and supportive community reaching out to their own and beyond. We are so excited to get off to such a great start—please keep on the lookout throughout the rest of this entire month, as all are invited to give a special “valentine” to their neighbors by donating a jar of peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit/vegetables and other currently dated canned goods. Drop off your donations all this month in decoratively marked boxes located at: City Hall, Melrose Public Library, (Council of Aging) Milano Center, Levi Gould Retirement Home (200 W Foster), Martino and Tramontozzi Office (616 Main Street) Roosevelt School, Melrose High School, Melrose YMCA, North Bank and Trust (516 Franklin) St, and The Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
