Today is Thursday, Feb. 2—it's Groundhog Day, first celebrated 125 years ago—and here are Melrose's five fast facts for the day:

2) Believe it or not, I studied 19th century French poetry: Take your 3 or 4-year-old to the Melrose Public Library today at 10:30 a.m. for Story Time. Listen to a story, sings songs and do crafts.
3) It takes a muscle to fall in love: Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School is celebrating “Go Red for Women Day” today and encouraging everyone to wear red to school to raise awareness and support research to prevent heart disease.
