1. Sunny skies: Thursday is expected to be sunny, with temperatures peaking in the low 60s during the day and lows in the low 50s, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Melrose. 

2. Special guest: Melrose Public Library is hosting investigative reporter and author Hank Phillippi Ryan for a talk and book signing from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Thursday. Ryan will be discussing her latest mystery novel entitled "The Other Woman."

3. Bike helmets anyone? The city will be giving away free bike helmets from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Melrose Health Department, 562 Main St. All ages and head sizes are welcome for the Melrose in Motion event.
