Melrose Teen Ejected From Car in Saturday Night I-95 Rollover

A vehicle driven by a Malden teen rolled over Saturday on 95 South in Foxborough injuring all four passengers, including a seriously injured Melrose 19-year-old.

On Saturday evening, a car driven by a Malden teen rolled over on I-95 South near Foxborough injuring all four occupants including a 19-year-old Melrose woman, who was ejected from the car and seriously injured. The driver and two passengers from Somerville received minor injuries.

“Evidence suggests the group's 2001 Toyota Sienna van was travelling in the center lane of three, attempted to change lanes to the right, lost control, left the roadway and rolled over and came to rest in the breakdown lane area,” stated a Massachusetts State Police Advisory.

Traffic was shutdown briefly, after the accident at 7:40 p.m., as a medical helicopter landed to transport the seriously injured passenger from Melrose, 19, to Boston Medical Center.

Massachusetts State Police were not releasing the woman's name; a Boston Medical Center spokeswoman said that without a name, she could not provide an update on the woman's condition.

A Somerville man, 21, was transported to Norwood Hospital with minor injures. A Somerville woman, 21, was transported to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver, an 18-year-old Malden woman also sustained minor injuries and was transported to Norwood Hospital.

Two lanes remained closed for three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared. All lanes were opened at 10:55 p.m.

“The cause of the crash, including why the van went out of control, remains under investigation by Trooper Brad W. Kessel and supporting units,” according to the advisory.

Troopers from the Foxborough Barracks are conducting the investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
