Melrose to Hold Lottery for Affordable Housing Thursday

The new residents of two affordable housing units in Melrose will be chosen on Thursday.

A lottery to choose the new residents of affordable housing units in Melrose will take place at City Hall on Thursday. 

The two units available are a 641 square foot 1-bedroom apartment and a 950 square foot 2-bedroom apartment, both of which are located at 99 Essex St. 

Applicants in a pre-determined income bracket applied to live in the apartments in May.

Affordable housing is defined as a property that is reasonably priced for the median of 80% of the community according to a state law passed in 1969.
