Pre-Holiday-Cookies Cardio for the Body and Soul
Melrose Boot Camp is back at it during Home for the Holidays.
Ah, 6:30 in the morning. The sunrise. The dew on the grass. The quiet of a day just getting started.
At least, that's what we assume it's like at that hour, a touch earlier than we typically mosey outside. However, we--and you--might need to make an exception this Saturday, when those crazy, wonderful trainers at Melrose Boot Camp (MBC) kick off their special, early-morning Home for the Holidays Fitness Fundraiser. From 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., beginners and boot-camp veterans alike will lunge, squat and attempt push-ups and jumping jacks, all in the storied interior of the Masonic Temple on Main Street.
If it's chilly when you head on over to the camp on Saturday, perhaps this thought will give you the warm fuzzies: By handing over the suggested donation of $10 when you reach the door, you are giving a very generous and very much needed gift to the Mayor's Emergency Fund. This hyper-local resource helps Melrosians every year, distributing everything from supermarket vouchers to checks for utility payments to very grateful families.
Besides your donation, you won't require much else if you decide to attend the Fitness Fundraiser. Comfy clothes, a bottle of water and running shoes or sneakers are all you'll need (and bring an exercise mat if you feel like it, but it's not necessary). Oh, and e-mail MBC instructor Joy Fay (joy@melrosebootcamp.com) to let her know you're coming, since space is limited for the enjoyment of all.
Doing good for local families and your body, all in one simple hour? Makes the holiday season suddenly seem a whole lot saner.

That's wonderful! Great work, MBC--and attendees!
