Jeff Semon is ahead of fellow Republican Frank Addivinola when it comes to fundraising in the Massachusetts 5th congressional district race, but both have a long way to go before they match the fundraising prowess of 35-year Democratic incumbent Ed Markey.
According to the Federal Election Commission, from April 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012, Semon raised $21,086 in contributions and took out no loans.
Meanwhile, Addivinola raised $6,810 in contributions between Jan. 1 and June 30 of this year, and took out $8,870 in loans for the campaign.
Both candidates are in the black on their financial sheets. Semon has spent $17,772 on operating his campaign, while Addivinola has spent $1,200 on operating his campaign and $5,634 on loan repayments for campaign expenditures.
Markey far outpaces both his potential oppoonents, with $800,813 raised between Jan. 1 last year and June 30 of this year. Of that amount, $439,050 are itemized individual contributions and $355,228 come from other committee contributions, such as political action committees.
The incumbent has spent $734,428 in that same time frame, with $410,896 going towards operating expenditures and $318,331 in other disbursements, such as donations to associations, charitable contributions and contributions to other political candidates.
Below are the itemized individual contributions for Semon and Addivinola and the operating expenditures for each, as taken from the Federal Election Commission's website. Markey's campaign finance reports are also available through the FEC website.
