Shopping SoWa Style (Food Trucks Included)

Go urban some Sunday in the near future.

Okay, so where do we start? The farmer's market? The "indie" designers? Perhaps the GRILLED CHEESE food truck? So much to say about the SoWa Open Market, so little space to say it.

Time to find out for yourself. Every Sunday from now until Oct. 30, SoWa will be operating along 460 Harrison Ave. in Boston, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mosey through the farmers market, which we promise has foodstuffs you don't always see in the suburbs, then make your way to the tent area, where you can lay your now-frantic hands on everything from Ovaltine-jars-turned-vases and superhero woodcuts to handmade purses and hand-tooled leather belts. (One of our favorite artists who hangs out at SoWa? The one and only, RI-based Greg Stones.)

Standards are high at SoWa: Vendors in the farmers market have to grow or produce at least 80 percent of what they're selling, and the design market is actually juried. If you're still not convinced of the need for a visit, take heed: There is an honest-to-goodness "food truck court" at SoWa each Sunday, a phenomena often attended by the infamous Roxy's Gourmet Grilled Cheese food truck.

For more info, check the SoWa Open Market's Web site. Be sure to peek at the blog. It never hurts to be prepared when planning to enter shopping nirvana.
