TELL US: Who Should Run For Governor?
Governor Deval Patrick won't run again, and Lt. Gov. Tim Murray wants the job. So do Treasurer Steve Grossman and 2010 Republican candidate Charlie Baker. Who do you think should run for governor?
Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray could hold out any longer. On Thursday, he told the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce he'd like to be governor, according to WBUR.
Mind you, he didn't say he would run, just that he wants to be governor. With the election two years away, starting an official campaign now would be a bit premature.
But Murray's not alone. Governor Deval Patrick has said he will not run in 2014, leaving the door open for Murray and a host of other suitors to the office. State treasurer Steve Grossman and 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker have also expressed interest in a run in 2014. And it wasn't so long ago that Scott Brown was greeted with shouts of "Governor!" during is concession speech.
Who do you think should run for governor? Is there someone out of the box you think would make a great leader of the commonwealth? Or do you want one of these Massachusetts heavyweights to square off for the corner office? Tell us in the comments below.

Charlie Baker is a smart guy but like Romney I don't think he relates to the common man and woman. And based on how these elections are being won that is all that matters. See our POTUS

Apparently the majority of common men (and women) believe so.

If common is a lying millionare then yes. The people of Massachustetts wanted to ensure their welfare and disability checks kept coming and nothing else. Look at Ted Kennedys career and Barney Franks and realize what this great Commonwealth is full of.

Whereas comments from Matt are presumably pretty boring, since I don't recall ever noticing him before.
Well... I suppose they're notable for his lack of apostrophes. Most illiterate people use too many, but Matt eschews them completely. That's special, I guess.

Jason, as a conservative, I had to hold my nose and vote for him during the last governor's race. I thought he was very petty throughout that campaign and carried himself poorly. It was obvious when the voters spoke to give Patrick another term.

Diane,
While the majortiy may have spoken, it is not always the case that they are right. The majority have been known to elect the likes of Barney Frank and John Tierney. People chose to vote for people for a variety of reasons, not all good and I certainly do not have to immediately decide that they are right, they are just the majority.
I may be in the minority, but you will never convince me that EW is anything but a fraud and a toady. She is in over her head and it will soon be obvious.

Perhaps we can convince Bill Weld to come back. Bill is a relatively centrist conservative. He does not let party politics get in the way of making decisions.

Weld can't run because of the residency requirement. He's a MA resident again as of 1/1/13, but to run for governor your primary residence has to be MA for 7 years prior to taking office.

No you are right we would rather have a Governor who gives in state tuition to illegals. Much much better. I wonder if Aunty Liz will talk about how providing such benefits to these illegals will continue the HAMMER us poor legal working slobs. Queue the crickets

First question I would ask of any candidate is "What's their position on Gun Control". If anybody has less than a D rating of is receiving campain funds from the NRA, IMO they should not be elected. Another random shooting yesterday @ two school busses in MA. We need better gun control and punishments in MA. Not a politition looking to clime the political ladder. Our own X Senator Brown was the largest recipient of campain funds from the NRA. See who you are voting for before you vote.
