Top three stories this week
- Several improvements have been planned for the downtown Melrose area. Mayor Rob Dolan wrote on his blog that the renovations should "make the street more attractive, more pedestrian-friendly, and more handicap accessible (which means easier for people with strollers to navigate as well."
- According to the police log, a Melrose man was accused of violating an abuse prevention order, officers were called to Beech Avenue for a report of two breaking and entering into motor vehicles, and a person visited the police station to report a past larceny at Melrose Highlands Congregational Church.
- Today, Saturday, Sept. 29, is National Coffee Day, and many chains are giving away free cups of it to celebrate. National coffee chains will also be giving out free cups of coffee during the week of Sept. 23. Dunkin' Donuts (on Lynn Fells Parkway and Main Street) and Honey Dew Donuts are just some of the places in Melrose to consider visiting.
