What Are Five Ways to Go Green Locally?
We want you to tell us local resources and initiatives that can help Melrosians take care of the planet, which we'll compile for this week's Patch Picks column.
Being environmentally conscious has become more popular as people realize it the positive impact it can have on your health (not to mention your wallet—and it can be very tasty, too).
We want to make it easier for Melrose residents to go green. So for this week's Patch Picks column, we're asking you: What are five ways to be green locally?
Is there a nearby resource people should be aware of? An initiative they can take part in? However you 'go green,' want to hear about it.
Leave your suggestions and tips in the comments section below, and we'll compile them into this Thursday's Patch Picks column.

Eat locally! Shop the farmer's market, join a CSA such as the Farm Direct Co-op (www.farmdirectcoop.org), the Houde Family Farm meat CSA (www.houdefamilyfarm.com), and the Cape Ann Fresh Catch CSF (www.capeannfreshcatch.org), all of which serve Melrose . The more locally your food was produced, the less fuel used to transport it. Also, organic farms don't use petroleum-based fertilizers, etc. Plus, everything is so much more tasty!
