What Business Would You Like To See Open In Melrose In 2013?
With a new year upon us, a question that comes to mind is: What kind of business would you like most to see open in Melrose in 2013?
Melrose has an active and growing business community, and residents have no shortage of restaurants and services within a short distance. But that said, it's a new year, and that begs the question: Is there a business not currently in Melrose that you would like to see?

An independent bookstore. Really, anything *but* another hair salon, nail salon, or pizza place. We definitely have more than enough of those.

I would LOVE an independent book store in Melrose. So would my son. It would certainly be another driver to keep our spending in Melrose.

A restaurant with a decent bar serving local craft beers like Jack's Abby, Night Shift, Pretty Things, etc. Something more than just Sam Adams.
(Or Melrose could progress a little and just allow a bar to open so that people don't have to buy food to have a drink or two).

A decent brew pub type place would do great. Someplace where one can go and have a really decent, (not gourmet...) burger and beer, nothing fancy.
A few different local microbrews...
There's even a perfect spot for it right across from the Mobil station!

Two small restaurant chains without immediately-nearby locations, either of which would fit in well:
Halfway Cafe: http://www.thehalfwaycafe.com/
Spike's Junkyard Dogs: http://www.spikesjunkyarddogs.com/

A casual upscale mid-priced restaurant. Something priced between Turners and a Pizza by the slice joint. Caruso's old spot is the ideal location. The city needs to step in there and make something happen. That location has been empty too long.

Love this idea. Or a brewpub. Either one would go great in the old Caruso's location.

Definitely a cozy pub! Something like the Black Horse Tavern in Winchester would fit in perfectly here...
