Who Won the Brown-Warren Debate?
Incumbent Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren squared off in their first debate Thursday night.
Republican Senator Scott Brown faced off against Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren Thursday night in a debate televised by WBZ-TV. The Thursday debate was the first of four planned tilts between the candidates, and it saw disagreement between the two on just about every topic.
Polls have seesawed over the last week, with Brown and Warren swapping small leads, as they have throughout the campaign. The debates may provide one or the other an opportunity to change voter minds and swing the election his or her way.
Central to Thursday's debate was the focus on taxes, jobs and the economy.
"He has said he will defend the top 2 percent and the top 3 percent...and will hold the other 98% of families hostage," Warren said, referencing Brown's position against extending the Bush-era tax cuts unless it also contained cuts for the country's top earners.
Brown countered by noting that Warren's policies would raise taxes, on everyone, in fact, it's the "first thing she looks to do," he said.
"And the criticism is that I don't want to raise taxes," he said. "Guilty as charged. I'm not going to raise taxes. I'm going to protect taxpayers' pocketbooks and wallets."

Scott Brown knows Massachusetts voters disagree with him on the issues, so he offered nothing but personal attacks and evasions about his record. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Warren debated the issues and held Brown accountable for the extreme votes he's taken against Obama's jobs plan, against the president's nominees, and against women's health access. That's why Warren won the debate, that's why she's winning this election.
p.s. "Professor" is not an insult. When Brown uses it like one, he sounds like a knucklehead and a playground bully.

That is her title is it not? Should he be offended that she referred to him as Senator? Perhaps she lacks class ans should have addressed him as Colonel seeing that he has spent 30 years in uniform protecting this country. Anything to make him seem like the big, bad wolf. Well guess what, I am a woman and Lizzy didn't scare me. I also have indian heritage, not a lot, but I've got it and I am not offended by Colonel Senator calling her out. She shows no prood and therefore must be seen as a fibber.

Elizabeth's family told her she was descended from Cherokee and Dakota ancestors, and she believed them. The conservative Republican who hired her said her ancestry was not a factor. So unless you're a birther, where's the conspiracy?
As people learn more about these candidates, they're going to vote for the one who will represent their interests in Washington. For the vast majority -- including those of us in the middle class -- that's Elizabeth Warren. And that's why she's pulling ahead. The more people learn, they more we like her, the more we respect her, and the more we see that Scott Brown's promises don't stand up to his record.

I thought Warren won the debate, She kept trying to bring answers back to the original question rather than continue on with soap box rhetoric. And honestly, if this native american thing is all Scott Brown has, he is in big trouble. Elizabeth Warren has my vote. I make $52,500 a year. I work very hard for that but I am in the 47% that the republicans don't care about.
