The City of Melrose in conjunction with the Melrose Veterans Advisory Board will remember Pearl Harbor Day on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. on the steps of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall on Main Street.

Our Pearl Harbor Day Ceremony remembers the more than 2,400 U.S. killed in action in an unprovoked attack by Japanese forces on December 7, 1941.  This is the 71st anniversary of a day that continues to live in infamy.  We remember this day in order to honor the lives lost and the resulting largest mobilization of U.S. forces in our nation's history.

While we honor our fallen, we also will remember the heroic sacrifice of the greatest generation by hearing from WWII Veteran and Melrose resident Bob Fuller.  He will speak to the gathered about his commitment to the service resulting in part from the Pearl Harbor Attack,

Immediately following Fuller's speech, we will honor Mr. Fuller as our first Veteran of the Quarter for 2013 with a plaque presentation and comments from Mayor Rob Dolan.

10:10 a.m. - Opening Prayer (Father Stephen Boyle - First Incarnation Church)

10:15 a.m. - Comments from WWII Veteran WWII

10:25 a.m. - Presentation of the Veteran of the Quarter Award and comments

10:30 a.m. - CLosing comments and invitation for coffee at City Hall
