By and large the city of Melrose has done an extremely good job in keeping streets open. First, during the storm the goal was for emergency traffic and then later the widening and trimming for everyday traffic. Yes, as of this writing (monday AM) there are still a few spots to be cleaned out (like Cedar Park) but overall the Melrose DPW and the Melrose Police have performed very well.

It would be nice if Melrose residents followed suit. People are having to walk in the (already narrowed) streets because residents haven't even attempted to clean the sidewalks (Main Street between Potomac and Mt Vernon Streets is particularly bad). It's been more than 48 hours now - there's no excuse to not cleaning up.

Regarding cedar park: how would a person paying to park & take the train know that a spot had been shoveled out by someone and therefore "belonged" to them? Nasty expletive filled threatening note left on car. Really?

I can't believe anyone thinks Melrose ever does a good job with snow plowing.
All you have to do is leave Melrose, if you can get out of the city, and notice what a much, much better job surrounding communities do! My street, a one way, is barely one lane wide, and this many days after the storm most streets are dangerously narrow to be driving on in Melrose!!!!!

The sidewalks on Franklin Street are an utter mess. The sidewalk plow may have taken a pass, but several intersections are treacherous, particularly the one with Chipman Ave, and there is a huge pile at the train tracks.
