I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?
My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. We're looking for something that gets good gas mileage, and is…
John M. Corcoran and Company, a Braintree-based developer, will purchase the 26-acre Weiss Farm property in Stoneham for a planned apartment complex with an affordable housing component. Will it affect traffic here?
A Braintree-based developer will purchase the 26-acre Weiss Farm property for a planned apartment complex with an affordable housing component, according to a report by The Stoneham Independent. The farm is located at 170 Franklin St. - just a quarter mile over the town line - and could have implications for local traffic. The newspaper reportedly obtained a letter from Weiss Farm owner Donna Weiss to the community, stating that she has reached an agreement with John M. Corcoran and Company, of Braintree, to sell her parcel of land for a development that could include upwards of 300 apartment units. "I have been holding on to the farm primarily to preserve and honor the Weiss family legacy; however, I find that I can no longer shoulder …

Are you the manager or owner of a Melrose business listed on Melrose Patch? If so, claim your listing and enjoy the added perks.
When Melrose Patch launched a couple years ago, editors and freelancers ventured to local businesses to collect information for our directory. Now, more than a year later, our directory section is a spot where users can find descriptions, hours, accepted payment methods and much more for spots around town. All users can add events taking place at local spots, can rate the business on a scale of one to five stars, and can add a review. But owners of local businesses get extra bonuses when they claim a listing. Owners or managers should search for their business listing and select "claim you listing" in order to make updates to the page. A form will pop up asking for your name, contact information, and proof of ownership. Within a few days, …
