Wonderful music is essential to our life at this church, and this festive choral celebration of the Advent and Christmas seasons will make clear why. Choral works will include the fourth chorale (“Zion hears her watchmen’s voices”) of J.S. Bach’s Cantata, “Wachtet Auf,” (“Sleepers Wake”). A mix of newer and traditional music of the season, both choral and instrumental, will be featured. Harold Prenatt, MHCC’s music director and organist, will be assisted by guest flautist Vanessa Holroyd, an active free-lance professional and chamber musician in the Boston area.  She will accompany the choir on five of their pieces, and her solo interlude of carols will include the "Carol of the Birds" (Catalonian), "Ding dong, merrily on high,” "I wonder as I wander,” and "People, look east.” Members of Choir Light will join with the Senior Choir in a new setting of "It came upon the midnight clear" and Greg Gilpin's "Benedicamus Domino".
