Polymnia Choral Society, a dynamic, exciting musical group, invites experienced singers of any age from high school to senior citizens for the 2012-2013 season. Director Murray Kidd, will hold open rehearsals on September 4, 11, and 18.
"Polymnia Choral Society is a place where people can come and experience great singing, music and camaraderie. The group has great fun while learning great music. Come and join us!" said Kidd.
Polymnia rehearses on Tuesday nights at 7:30 at the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church, 70 West Emerson Street, opposite the Melrose Public Library. Polymnia members come from Melrose, Malden, Stoneham, Wakefield and other towns in the area.
Celtic Christmas is the first concert, on December 1, 2012, at St. Mary’s Church. It will feature guest Irish tenor, Brendan Carroll. The music will be a dynamic fusing of classical and Celtic. Also, Melrose artist, Tom Sutherland, will be doing a performance painting during the show, painting an Irish landscape to one or more of the songs. Mitre Bitre will frame the finished painting.

More About Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church
Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church began its work within the community in 1974, when the Unitarian and Universalist churches merged. Before then, the Unitarian Church was initiated in 1867 at the current site of the Unitarian Universalist Church, while in 1852, the Universalist Parish constructed a church at the corner of Essex and Willow streets.
The church today is both self-governing and self-supporting, providing a welcoming home to those seeking a liberal religious community. The activities offered include a youth group, a church school program, missionary programs and retreat groups.
