 that goes back 130 years. His great-grandparents were among the first se
 ttlers in Petah Tikva\, his grandparents were among the founding familie
 s of Tel Aviv\, and his father was an activist and leader in the Irgun\,
  working for Israel&rsquo\;s independence and on the rescue of European 
 Jews before and during World War II. Ben-Ami is the author of A New Voic
 e for Israel\, published in 2011.\nJ Street is the political home for pr
 o-Israel\, pro-peace Americans to advocate for vigorous U.S. leadership 
 to achieve a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and 
 to broaden debate around Israel and the Middle East in national politics
