MHS Softball player Kaitlin Carson is spearheading a gently used softball equipment collection. Items collected will be donated to the International Softball Federation for distribution to nations around the world. Items needed include, gloves, bats, helmets, large equipment bags, and cleats. Contact michelle.carson@comcast.net if you have items to doante, but can't make it to The Common.

More About Melrose Common
Located in between East Foster and Laurel streets, this massive playground has it all. Positioned at the far end of the park, you'll find a baseball, softball and soccer field. And for younger children, there's a sandbox, jungle gym, swings and two woodchip playgrounds. Situated in the middle of the commons is a fenced-in, paved area, painted to look like a racetrack, where children can ride their tricycles. Next to that is a basketball court.
Make sure you get to this park early. Even though there is plenty of street parking, this park gets pretty crowded on a nice day.
Organized teams must request a field permit from the Melrose Park Department before using the city fields, by calling 781-662-9511.
