DESCRIPTION:The Melrose Veteran's Memorial Middle School Drama Club is pl
 eased to present "Starmites-Lite\," a rollicking musical staged by the M
 VMMS Drama students as their 8th Grade recital piece.&nbsp\; The play is
  directed and choreographed by Melrose students Nate Shu\, Samantha Swee
 t and Natalie Brogan.&nbsp\; Teacher and Drama Club Advisor\, Brent Buen
 o\, is mentoring the students on their directorial debuts.&nbsp\; MHS gr
 aduate Stephan Reale is returning to music direct the show.&nbsp\; &ldqu
 o\;Starmites-Lite&rdquo\; tells the story of a shy teenager\, Eleanor\, 
 who creates a fantasy world involving science fiction characters from he
 r comic book collection.&nbsp\; She escapes into her fantasy world where
  she becomes involved in the conflict between the evil ShakGraa and the 
 Starmites--the guardian angels of Inner Space.&nbsp\; The Starmites beli
 eve that&nbsp\;Eleanor is pre-ordained to save the universe from destruc
 tion.&nbsp\; In&nbsp\;her electrifying journey\, Eleanor meets Amazonian
  cannibal beauties\,&nbsp\;the Hunk of inner space\, and many more &ldqu
 o\;out of this world&rdquo\; colorful characters.&nbsp\; This high energ
 y\, exciting and hilarious musical is filled with rock 'n roll\, doo-wop
 \, rap and gospel music and is suitable for all ages.&nbsp\; Nominated f
 or six Tony awards when it was on Broadway\, this sci-fi rock 'n roll mu
 sical should not be missed.\nThe play will be performed at the Melrose P
 erforming Arts Center at the middle school on Friday\, February 15th at 
 7:00pm and on Saturday\, February 16th at 2:00pm.&nbsp\; Tickets are $10
  for adults and $5 for students\,&nbsp\;children and seniors and will be

 quo\; final Recital Piece\, the play will also benefit Melrose&rsquo\;s 
 &ldquo\;Operation Thank You.&rdquo\; &nbsp\;This is an organization whos
 e goal is to send at no cost to them\, Melrose&rsquo\;s Vietnam Veterans
  to their memorial in Washington\,  DC\, in May\, 2013 in order to comme
 morate the Vietnam War&rsquo\;s 50th Anniversary.&nbsp\; The trip is a g
 reat way to say thank you to our veterans for their heroic commitment on
  behalf of our country and community.&nbsp\; This effort is supported by
  many city officials including Mayor Robert Dolan\, Director of Veteran 
 Services for Melrose\, Wakefield and Saugus\, Ryan McLane\, and Tom Brow
 \, MVMMS Principal.\nThe cost for each veteran to attend the trip to the
 ir monument in Washington\,  DC is around $250. This covers a veteran's 
 bus fare\, hotel stay\, and tour and sightseeing fees throughout the tri
 p.&nbsp\; Eighth-graders&nbsp\;Colleen Driscoll\,&nbsp\;Rachel Fracasso\
 ,&nbsp\;Daniella Furtado\,&nbsp\;Teagan Ingalls\,&nbsp\;Taylor Norton\,&
 nbsp\;Gianna Paladino\,&nbsp\;Jenna Santos\, Zelda Stewart\, and&nbsp\;M
 aria Tramontozzi are all part of this year&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Operation Th
 ank You&rdquo\; club at the middle school. The club&rsquo\;s main goal i
 s to raise the funds required to enable all Melrose Vietnam Veterans to 
 travel to Washington\,  DC at no cost to them\, to view the monument ded
 icated to them and their comrades. &nbsp\;\nThe Cast and Crew of &ldquo\
 ;Starmites-Lite&rdquo\; will take up a collection for &ldquo\;Operation 
 Thank You&rdquo\; following each performance\, and all proceeds generate
 d from concessions sold during the shows will also be donated to the fun
 d.&nbsp\; Please come out and see this great MVMMS Drama Club show and s
 upport our Vietnam Veterans at the same time!!&nbsp\;
