New Science Wing at Melrose High School to Be Unveiled Thursday

Here is a sampling of five things to know on Thursday, Aug. 22 in Melrose:

1. New science wing:
The new science wing at Melrose High School will be unveiled at 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a city press statement. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place, with local and state officials on hand, including Treasurer Steve Grossman and Secretary of Education Matthew Malone, adds the statement.

2. Kindergarten party:
A Kindergarten Welcome Reception is slated for 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Melrose Common, according to a city press statement. "Athletes from the high school teams will be there to play sports with the incoming kindergarteners, and there will be slush and children’s activities," adds the statement.

3. In case you missed it: Find out how many suspects allegedly involved in crimes in Melrose over the past decade currently appear on the Mass Most Wanted website.

4. Hot temps: It is expected to be mostly sunny on Thursday in Melrose, with temperatures peaking in the low 90s and overnight lows in the upper 60s.

5. Library program: Check out at Melrose Public Library program scheduled for Thursday, according to the library website:
