Trash, Recycling Pickup Slowed by Snowstorm in Melrose

Here is a sampling of five things to know for Friday, Jan. 3 in the Melrose area:

1. From Mayor Rob Dolan's blog: "Due to the weather, trash pickup was not completed on a few streets as scheduled. Trash will be picked up on those streets tomorrow.

Trash pickup is on a holiday schedule with a one-day delay, so streets that are usually on a Thursday schedule will be picked up on Friday and those that have regular trash pickup on Friday will be picked up on Saturday.

2. No School for Melrose Public Schools on Friday.

3. From the mayor's blog: "The City of Melrose has and will continue to have over 80 pieces of snow removal equipment on the roads throughout the night and (Friday) morning hours. The severity and timing of the storm will still result in dangerous driving conditions in the morning commuter hours. Please avoid driving if possible."

4. Dogwood Cottage won't be offering transportation services on Friday; however, daycare is still available.

5. Mystic Valley Regional Charter School won't have school on Fridays, according to the City of Malden Facebook page.
