Black History Month Program Sponsored by Melrose Human Rights Commission

In recognition of Black History Month, the Melrose Human Rights Commission and the Melrose High School Social Studies Department is presenting a filmed record of Dr. King’s leadership in the civil rights movement.

The documentary begins with the Montgomery Bus Boycott sparked by Rosa Parks arrest for refusing to move to the back of the bus and ends with Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech in Washington DC.

This outstanding documentary allows the viewer to react to history as it was originally filmed.  If you want to discover why we have a national holiday honoring Dr. King, please come to see this extraordinary movie.

It will be shown free of charge on February 26th at the Melrose Middle School auditorium starting at 7 PM.  Doors open at 6:30 PM.  The film is 90 minutes long.  There will be a brief introduction, an intermission for questions or clarification, and  will conclude with an opportunity for the audience to comment.
