Girls for a Greater Good, the youngest chapter in the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, joined forces with Stop and Shop in Saugus to raise more than $600 for the Jimmy Fund.
The girls spent a recent Saturday scooping slush, selling Stop and Shop Triple Winner Game tickets and offering necklaces and pins to raise funds. The necklaces and pins were handmade by the girls and sold quickly throughout the day’s events.
“The young ladies from the Girls for a Greater Good are wonderful representatives of today’s youth,” said Denise Morgan, a customer service representative from Stop and Shop. “They should be commended for all the hard work they offered to Stop and Shop and the Jimmy Fund.”
The Girls for a Greater Good is based out of Melrose and is comprised of 12-year-old girls attending the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. The chapter, formed in 2012, has been honored with the President’s Recognition Award from the GFWC in its first year of service.
The girls have also raised money for Julia’s Child, baked goods for the seniors at the Milano Senior Center and made birthday boxes for homeless children.
