Melrose-Wakefield Hospital releases top baby names of 2013

Approximately 1,000 babies are born at Hallmark Health System’s Melrose-Wakefield Hospital (MWH) each year. Parents carefully select names for their sons and daughters, some are family names while others are unique or trendy, but still some are more popular than others.

 

At MWH, the most popular girls name was Ava while Anthony topped the list for the boys in 2013. Coming in second and third were Sophia and Gianna for the girls. Joseph came in second for the boys and there was a four-way tie between Dominic, Liam, Matthew and Michael for the third slot. This was a change over 2012 when Ava was the fourth most popular name and Anthony didn’t even make the top 10. Here is the full list of the top 10 most popular baby names at MWH for 2013:

Girls: Ava, Sophia, Gianna, Emma, Chloe, Alexandra, Isabella, Abigail, Brooke and Grace.

Boys: Anthony, Joseph, Dominic, Liam, Matthew, Michael, Cameron, Jackson, John and Nicholas.

 


The local names mirrored that of the top 100 names found on parenting website babycenter.com, but differed in their degree of popularity. The website had Sophia and Jackson on top followed by Emma and Olivia and Aiden and Liam in the second and third slots.
