Remembering Calire C. Valente

Claire C. (McGlynn) Valente passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Monday, September 30, 2013. She was 87 years of age. Claire was born in Somerville to the late Anthony & Catherine (McCormack) McGlynn, was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1945. Mrs. Valente was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be sorely missed. A lifelong resident of Medford she was a member of the North Shore Irish Club, a longtime member of St. James Church in Medford and Immaculate Conception Church in Malden. Claire enjoyed her trips to Maine & Florida and cherished the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Valente was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late and recently passed James A. Valente. Loving mother of Patricia Parker & her husband Stephen of Saugus, Bradford Valente & his wife Jeanne of NH, Christopher Valente & his wife Patricia of Hanover, Paul Valente & his wife Trina of Wilmington, Mary Beth McConaghy & her husband Robert, John Valente & his wife Lisa, all of Melrose, Regina Salsman & her husband Ernie of Malden, Donna Murphy & her husband Richard of Melrose and the late James Valente Jr., the late Robert Valente and his late wife Mary & the late Richard Valente. Mother-in-law of Jacqueline Valente of Salem. Devoted sister of Jack McGlynn, Richard McGlynn, Jacqueline Raimo and Maureen McGillicuddy all of Medford. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, October 5th at 9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
