Remembering Louis McCarthy

Louis F. McCarthy, of Wakefield, formerly of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Sept. 21, 2013 at the age of 82. Louis was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. Louis resided in Melrose for most of his life and the past 34 years in Wakefield. He worked as a Meat Cutter for A.H. Brown Market in Melrose for over 20 years and was an honorary member of the Boystown of America. Louis was a member of the Melrose Elks Club, Harold O’ Young V.F. W. Post #2394, St. Mary’s Church, all in Melrose & Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. He loved college & professional football and spending time with his family & father in law at their cottage in Windham, NH. Louis was the devoted & faithful husband of Lois A. (Ward) McCarthy for over 43 years. Brother of the late Red McCarthy. Caring brother in law of Robert Ward & his wife Linda of Andover, Nancy Craddock & her late husband Wayne of Derry, NH and Richard Ward of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, Sept. 26th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-7PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Korean War Navy Veteran.
