Remembering Steven Freda

Steven Andrew Freda passed away suddenly in Melrose, on July 14, 2013. He was only 47 years of age. Steven was born in Medford to the late James & Janice (Brown) Freda. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1984 and has been a longtime resident. He served overseas in Korea for the U.S Army National Guard, where he met his wife Sang. Mr. Freda was a process operator for A.W. Chesterton Manufacturing Company of Woburn and Groveland and has worked there for the past 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding ATV’s and camping. Steven enjoyed traveling up to his friend’s camp in Maine and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Steven was the loving husband of Sang (Chun) Freda. Devoted father of Matthew Freda of Melrose and Jessica Freda of Melrose. Brother of Susan Champy & her husband John of NH. Nephew of Anthony Freda of Malden. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday July 22nd from 4:00-7:00PM, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Steven’s name to the Melrose Veteran’s Fund, c/o Veteran’s Office, 562 Main St. Melrose, MA 02176.
