5 Things You Need To Know Today—Monday, June 25

Open parks program starts today; 30 and over pickup basketball; Planning Board meets.

1) Life's become just cloudy days:  Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. High near 73. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Tonight, showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 p.m., then a chance of showers after midnight. Low around 59. West wind between 5 and 8 mph. (Forecast by the National Weather Service.)

2) Saturday in the park, I think it was the fourth of July: The at Melrose Common, every Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Melrose Recreation Department will have several instructors at the park all summer, available to play sports, organize games, run activites, and setup arts and crafts projects for all who are interested. (Programs close early if no participants are in the park. Supervision is very limited. A guardian must accompany any child under the age of 10, and must remain for duration or participation.)

3) I seen hoop dreams deflate: For you adults 30 and up, the Recreation Department will be running at the Roosevelt School each Monday from 7-9 p.m. There will be a league coordinator on-site to organize games and teams. Several formats will be used to organize games and teams depending on how many players show up each night to participate If you need a new reversible jersey there is an additional $15 dollar fee.

4) Can you tell that I'm planning: The Melrose Planning Board meets tonight at 7:45 p.m.
