1) The sun will rise again: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. North wind between 3 and 11 mph. A slight chance of showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Southeast wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest. Chance of precipitation is 20%. (Forecast by the National Weather Service.)

2) Long Nights: A packed agenda tonight's full Board of Aldermen meeting—lots of transfers between various accounts as the city nears the end of the fiscal year on June 30. Most of that may get sent to committee for discussion and a recommendation before coming back to the board for a final vote. Here's some of what sticks out:

• Final approval of the funding that would allow Melrose Public Schools to eliminate the full-day kindergarten fee. .

• Amending city ordinances regarding parks and playgrounds by adding a section about off-leash dog areas, and amending the city's leash ordinance. This is needed before the city can open up the . (See attached map.)

• effective June 2.

• effective July 2. Also, final approval of a change in city ordinance that allows Scenna to fill the role, a change which the aldermen's Appropriations Committee unanimously recommended.

4) I've been searching for something: The Melrose Public Schools district is forming two search committees: one for principals at the Hoover, Horace Mann and Roosevelt Schools (letters of intent due Wednesday) and one for a new curriculum director (letters of intent due today).
