Fiscal 2013 budget public hearing; Mother's Day brunch for seniors; Global Education in Melrose award ceremony.

1) I'm a Little Black Rain Cloud, of course: Showers, mainly before 11 a.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. High near 69. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. 2) Ca-ching: The aldermen's Appropriations Committee meets tonight at 7:30 p.m., starting with the public hearing on next year's budget. Then budget deliberations will continue, including the Melrose Police Department, Mount Hood and Melrose Public Library budgets.

3) Dear Mama: Seniors are invited to a Golden Living will provide lovely decorative plants and Home Instead will provide the Big Band tunes of singer Jim Porcella. There is a $2 requested donation to cover the cost of brunch. To make a reservation for lunch or a ride,  call 781-662-6886. A $1 one-way donation is requested for ride.

4) East coast, west coast, worldwide: Tonight at 7 p.m., MHS' Global Education in Melrose (GEM) program will Students will present their final GEM projects, in which academic work is integrated with creative, reflective, and exploratory endeavors, all inspired and informed by travel, language study, reading and research.
