Classmates Pray for Melrose Teen Critically Injured Days Before Graduation

A fund has been created to help Janessa Gordon's parents with expenses, including lodging near Gordon's hospital in Maine.

Janessa Gordon’s friends and classmates have taken to Twitter to show their support for her and to pray for her to wake up.

Gordon, an 18-year-old from Melrose, was critically injured Sunday night in a one-car rollover on Route 4 in Rangeley, Maine.

On Twitter, her friends and classmates have been tweeting at her, @janesssaxox, and using the hashtag #prayforjanessa.

In addition, a GoFundMe page has been created to help Gordon’s parents with expenses, including their lodging near Gordon’s hospital.

Gordon was the front-seat passenger in the car, driven by Marilines Waldron, of Saugus, who crashed attempting to pass another vehicle. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Three teens in the backseat suffered minor injuries.

Gordon was set to graduate from Northeast Metro Tech, a vocational high school in Wakefield, on Friday, June 6. She and about 20 of her classmates had rented a cottage in Maine for the weekend to celebrate the upcoming graduation.
