Five Things: What Businesses Should Beacon Hill Try to Attract?

And more to know today, Dec. 6.

1. From the BHCA vacancy task force: "The Beacon Hill Civic Association's "Retail Vacancy Task Force" wants to find out which types of stores the residents would like to see open up in Beacon Hill, and then try to identify and contact owners of such stores about opening a shop here. Please help us by telling us what you'd like to have in Beacon Hill.  Just fill out this survey."

2. Holiday stroll tonight: Don't forget the Beacon Hill Holiday Stroll tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. See the details here.

3. Snow alerts: With possible snow emergencies coming this winter, it's a good time to make sure your updated contact information is registered with Alert Boston, the city's emergency notification system. Sign up to get emergency alerts on your phone, by email or text message.

4. Deck The House: You could win $100,000 for Boston Public Schools, and $500 for your utility bill, just by snapping a photo of your holiday decorations and uploading it here.

5. Cold but bright: The forecast is calling for a bright, cloudless day with highs in the upper 30s. But the slight breeze will make the temperatures feel just above freezing.

What Boston should try is cutting the salary and benefits of every elected official. Period. Since when have we had to have FULL TIME politicians earning more money that the City Workers who actually - I believe in most cases - actually do an honest days work. Granted you have some of those no-show hacks. But they aggrevate the true working stiff who shows up to put in a honest 8 or more hour a days of work. The over paid politicians don't contribute anything and spend most of their time devising ways to screw the working stiff with taxes. Oh no, excuse me. We are supposed to use the Liberal word of "Revenue" as it makes it sound so much more legitimate.
