Get Out to Listen to a Child Prodigy Play a Concerto

Plus: watch a movie at the Memorial Middle School, go to a Christmas fair, hike the Fells and sample wine.

Where/When: Memorial Middle School, 350 Lynn Fells Parkway, Melrose/ Saturday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m. 

Why go? The thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a dream thief and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2010. Everyone is welcome, but parents must go with children younger than 11.

Why go? Hear 14-year-old pianist Kadar Qian play a concerto. 

Cost: $29 for adults, $10 for students 

Where/When: , 645 Main St, Melrose/ Saturday, Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. 

Why go? Visit our beautifully decorated hall and enjoy coffee & donuts, boutique table, gently used jewelry, Christmas crafts room, used books, white elephant, bake sale, handmade crafts, sandwich, salad & soup luncheon with special desserts and silent auction. Come and find out why folks say we have the best church fair in town!

Where/When: 68 South Border Road, Medford/Saturday, Nov. 5, 10 a.m. to noon. 

Why go? Hike the southernmost part of the Fells on the Skyline, Reservoir, and Cross Fells trails. This walk will end with a visit to Pine Hill and Wright’s Tower, where the view includes Medford, Boston, and the Blue Hills in the distance. The trails are steep and rocky in places. Wear sturdy boots and bring at least a liter of water. Meet at the Bellevue Pond parking area, South Border Road, Medford. Rain cancels.

Where/When: , 523 Franklin St., Melrose/Saturday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m. 

Why go? Raise money for the Melrose High School lacrosse team, eat appetizers and desserts, listen to music and a comedian and enter a raffle.
