Driving Range Discount, Raspberry Beret Sale and More

Family-friendly discounts around town.

There's more to early summer than cutting the grass, cleaning the pool and buying yet another tank of propane for the grill. For example! There are trips to the zoo! Visits to the driving range! Purchases at that adorable consignment shop down the street! This week, save while you enjoy, thanks to the deals we dug up for you. (Remember to check with the merchant for additional conditions.)

Don’t forget you're part of this column too. Let us hear about deals you've seen. Just add them to our comment box, at the bottom of this page. Then come back each week and see what we’ve uncovered together.

Library Day at the Stone Zoo

Deal: Ready to feel special at a special price? Good. On July 26, in partnership with the Melrose Public Library, a Stone Zoo educator will lead children and their caretakers on a very special guided tour of the zoo, focusing on the animals the library will be adopting if the summer reading club reaches its goal. Buy discounted tickets ahead of time in the Children's Room: $10 for adults and $6 for children (instead of the normal $13 and $9).

Good through: July 8

Raspberry Beret

Deal: Giving you good reason to finally stop in and check out those extra-cute outfits displayed in the window: Raspberry Beret, the Wakefield consignment and vintage shop and "unique boutique," is running its summer sale. Buy one skirt or pair of pants and get the second half off.  And as every well-turned-out Melrosian knows, one can never have too many summer skirts.

Good through: As shop employees put it, "Until all the pants/skirt hangers hang empty!"

Miter Biter

Deal: Are the lazy days of summer already a stumbling block to your previously set-in-stone spring organizing plans? Well, check "To Do: Framing Graduation and Recital/Tournament/School Play Photos" off your list, and at a discount. Head down to Miter Biter and grab the free rewards card. Each time you make a purchase, 10% of the price is credited to your card. Take the 10 percent off your next purchase, or let all those 10 percents accumulate. A framing dream come true, that one.

Good through: No expiration currently

Richardson's Ice Cream/Golf Country

Deal: You know you're going to be up at Richardson's this summer anyway. (Moose Tracks, anyone?) Why not get there a little early, head to the attached Golf Country driving range and hit all you want and can from 7-11 a.m.? For $15, you can do just that.

Good through: No expiration currently

LyssDesign

Local Etsy Deal: Now this is family bonding: The Etsy shop LyssDesign is a joint effort by a mother-daughter creative team based out of Wakefield. Part hand-knitted/crocheted/felted purses and part handmade jewelry, LyssDesign is a continual surprise--and well-priced. We particularly like the looks of the blinged-out phone charms ($12) and the chocolate felted purse (not bad at $40).

Good through: Ongoing
