Grab and Go Kids Planner: Beat the Heat

It;s going to be a toasty week—check out these indoor events to escape the sun.

Trips to the library, some time in the theatre and a day at the museum are all ways to stay in the AC and keep out of the high temperatures forecasted for this week. 

  • Where/When: / Wednesday, July 20, 10:00am–2:00pm
  • Why Go: This drop-in creative arts program is for children entering kindergarten through the 5th grade. Craft highlights include story quilt from the USA, Japanese flowering fans and Origami, Australian bark art and Mask Making from Mexico.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: / Thursday, July 21, 2:00pm
  • Why Go: The popular Kidstock Theater Group of Winchester returns again this summer for three different delightful interactive shows at the library. The performances are recommended for children ages 3 & older.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: /Friday, July 22, 10:30am
  • Why Go: Preschoolers and their parents are invited to join the library on Friday mornings in July for stories, songs, rhymes and games from around the world.
  • Pricing: Free. 

  • Where/When: 100 Legends Way, Boston/ Friday, July 22, 10:00am–4:00pm
  • Why Go: Free Fun Fridays invites Massachusetts residents and tourists to visit designated cultural attractions every Friday this summer with free admission. This week head to the sports museum for a roaring good time.  
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When:  101 Montvale Ave, Stoneham, (Stoneham Arena)/Monday-Thursday, 2:00pm – 3:45pm
  • Why Go: The Stoneham Arena re-opened for the season on July 5 and offers skating for the public this Sunday, a sure-fire way to escape the heat.
  • Pricing: $4 for adults, $3 for kids.
