Hot Off the T: Idiots, Puppets and More

Five things to do in Boston this weekend.

1. Boston has its own set of beloved idiots, but you can get a taste of “American Idiot” this weekend at The Opera House. The critically acclaimed Broadway show is making a limited run in Boston. Check out one of four show times this weekend, while tickets last. Take the Orange Line to Downtown Crossing Station and walk three minutes to the Opera House.

2. There are plenty of places to have a good laugh this weekend. Five venues across town are participating in the , featuring national acts like The Amazing Jonathan and Tom Papa along with local favorites like Improv Asylum. Shows run throughout the weekend. 3. Looking for an event kids and parents will both find enjoyable? The hosts an Saturday at 2 p.m.. It’s fun for kids and (hopefully) relaxing for parents. Take the Orange Line to Back Bay and walk five minutes to the library.

4 .Maybe you’ve graduated from paper to cardboard. Check out the this weekend at . The troupe performs several shows, including “Attica”, “Man of Flesh and Cardboard” and “Man = Carrot Circus.” Each piece is aimed at audiences of different ages, so check the schedule before you bring the kids. Take the Orange Line to Back Bay and walk nine minutes to Cyclorama.

5. Leave the kids at home and check out  at the , featuring musical performances that were favorites of Boston’s gone and lamented Scollay Square, home of the legendary Old Howard and other burlesque theaters. Tickets are $10 for the general public, and the show starts Saturday at 7 p.m.. Take the Orange Line to North Station and walk six minutes to the museum.
