Imagine, if you will: You, alone except for a few friends, in a store packed to the gills with designer brands and discount prices. Breathe in the scent of very gently used Coach and Prada, rub the fabric of tags-still-on-them dresses between your fingers.
Not too shabby an imaginary moment, right? But wait! It gets better! It's not imaginary. At The Clothes Vine, the Melrose consignment boutique with a promise of "something for everything," owner Maria DeSantis offers passionate (and frugal) fashionistas the chance to take over her store for a few hours. Make it a party with up to a dozen like-minded shoppers, or schedule a Moms and Daughters' spree. DeSantis provides nibbles and wine, and you're welcome to bring in additional noshes.
So that you (and your credit card) know what you're getting yourselves into: The Clothes Vines has loyal consigners from all over the region, hosts a constantly changing inventory and offers everything from vintage to current. DeSantis promises an ample supply of trenchcoats this spring―a trend apparently inspired by the soon-to-be Princess Kate.
