Kids Planner: Anime, Boo in the Zoo, Fall Fair and More

Kid-friendly events taking place this week in and around Melrose

Why Go: MPL Cocoa House is THE place for middle schoolers to meet. This month the club will discuss The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. The book is available at the circulation desk for check-out. Drinks and goodies will be served.

Why Go: Hang out with other anime fans and watch anime. Meets monthly in the Maccario Room. Refreshments will be served. Feel free to bring your friends. No registration required. For students in grades 5-12.

Pricing: Free.

When/Where: Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. / 273 Vernon St., Wakefield

Why Go: Rev up those engines, put on your best poodle skirts and leather jackets, and head out for this musical classic. (Costumes not actually required.)

Pricing: $17 Adult, $15 Student/Senior

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. / Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham

Why Go: Children are invited to trick-or-treat among the animals. Thrills, chills, and animals lurk around every corner on the Trick-or-Treat Trail. Other haunted happenings offered throughout the day include: creepy crafts, ghoulish games, howling costume contests, and a haunted maze!

Pricing: Stone Zoo Admission: $13 for adults; $11 for seniors (62+); $9 for children (2-12); Children under 2 are free.

When/Where: Sunday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m. /  83 Pine St., Peabody

Why Go: Join the NSJCC for its 2nd annual Fall Family Festival. Enjoy face painting, balloon animals, carnival games, vendor marketplace, bake sale, meet Elmo, and lots more family fun.

Pricing: Free and open to the public.
