Here is the Melrose Storm Center where we will be posting updates related to the snowstorm:

Friday, Jan. 3

3:30 p.m.: Here is a post-snowstorm update from Mayor Rob Dolan's blog:

"We have had over 80 pieces of equipment on for over 24 hours, and we are now going to a lighter crew for the evening. We will be fully staffed tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. for another phase of snow operations. Due to the extreme cold, the region has significant ice pack on our streets. We have cleared to the pavement on most thoroughfares and main connector roads, and tomorrow’s goal is to focus on corners and side streets. We will begin at 5 a.m. by once again salting all roads. With gradually warming temperatures, this should break up most of the ice. We will then clear side roads during the day and salt again for the evening. We are also focusing on corners.

The City Yard will be staffed for phone calls until 6 p.m. tonight and will be back in operation tomorrowmorning.

Trash, recycling, and Christmas trees will be picked up tomorrow. As of the end of today we have caught up on all our trash pickup. Please be patient. Everything will be picked up.

There is no parking ban from this point forward.

Again, please help us out by clearing snow from fire hydrants and catch basins, as we expect heavy rainon Monday.

Also, please help your elderly or disabled neighbors by clearing their sidewalks if they cannot.

Given the size of this storm, it will take several days to clear the snow away properly. Thank you for your patience, and thank you to the DPW crew that has worked so hard during this major storm.

I think it’s very safe to say there will be school on Monday!"
