Where/When: / Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1 p.m.

Why Go: This program provides information about the potential health benefits, as well as some of the risks associated with the consumption of chocolate and coffee. The discussion is meant to be a fun and informative look at how and why consumption of chocolate and coffee might be considered as a part of a healthy diet, as well as, provide an understanding of the importance of reading labels when purchasing these items.

Where/When: / Wednesday, Sept. 28, 07:15 p.m.

Why Go: OutLoud at the Beebe Open Mike  Coffee House for poetry, prose, and music features John Sturm. This  dramatic orator illuminates poetry, prose, and lyrics with his  expressive renditions.  Open Mike sign-up is between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m., first-come-first serve. Performances and readings run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Coffee, tea, and other refreshments served.  

Pricing: No cover; donations are accepted for costs and local
charity.

Where/When: / Thursday, Sept 29, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Michael Stanley is the pen name for the writing duo Michael Sears and Stanley Trollip. Their third mystery, Death of the Mantis, will be released this month, featuring Detective Kubu of Botswana, a genial sleuth whose name means "hippo" in his African dialect. Join the library on Thursday as Stanley Trollip brings us up to date on Detective Kubu's latest case. Books are available for purchase that night, courtesy of Haley Booksellers.

Where/When: Melrose High School / Sunday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m.

Why Go: This popular annual event will feature a great selection of antique and classic cars, craft and vendor tables and lots of good food. The exhibition runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. You’ll see the always great selection of classics, from antiques to convertibles to muscle cars, displayed in a comfortable atmosphere to view and admire your favorite classic cars. In addition to the craft section, there will be all kinds of fresh good food available, a DJ and special drawings and raffles.  A special feature this year will be 4 Concours classes for foreign cars. The foreign classes will be British, Italian, German and other – Rotary expects a large number of non US cars in addition to the usual outstanding group of domestic cars.
