- When/Where: Melrose Highlands Congregational Church / Monday and Wednesday, 5:45 a.m., 6:15 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- For Who: Walkers looking to get in shape for this year's Walk for Hunger.
- Why Go: Join with other Melrose residents who plan to particpate in this year's 20-mile Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 1. Walkers will gather in the church parking lot for a two-mile walk on Monday and Wednesday for the next three weeks, with two training walks in the early morning and one training walk in the evening.

- For Who: Health-conscious parents.
- Why Go: Join a Registered Dietitian from Hallmark Health to learn successful strategies for a healthier trip to the grocery store, and bring your toddler (2-5 years old) for a scavenger hunt through the store.
- When/Where: Memorial Hall / Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.
- For Who: Melrosians who love dance and learning about other cultures.
- Why Go: The Folk Arts Center is pleased to collaborate with ensembles Dvorana, Moták, and Kvítek in presenting their two-hour show,“From South Bohemia to Mexico,”which features a variety of dance suites with 30 dancers and musicians from Prague, Czech Republic.
- When/Where: Memorial Hall / Friday, 7 p.m.
- For Who: Fans of The Beatles.
- Why Go: New England's best Beatles band will once again headline a concert to benefit the Knights of Columbus' Food for the Needy Fund. General admission seats are $20.

- When/Where: Flynn Rink, 300 Elm St., Medford / Saturday, 9 a.m.
- For Who: Anyone who enjoys and wants to hepl upkeep of the Middlesex Fells.
- Why Go: This is a Park Serve Day event. The DCR will provide tools, including pick-up sticks, trash bags and work gloves. Volunteers are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and protective clothing and to consider using sunscreen and insect repellent. The event is co-sponsored by Fells Dog Owner Group, Friends of the Middlesex Fells, New England Mountain Bike Association - Greater Boston Chapter and the Massachusetts Sierra Club.
