Why Go: After a recent on-line survey indicated that Melrose residents have a strong interest in learning more about solar energy, the city applied for and received a grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) to participate in the Solarize Mass Program. Melrose is one of 17 Massachusetts Green Communities eligible for the program, which offers discounts to homeowners and businesses interested in installing photovoltaic (PV) panels. On Wednesday, the Melrose Energy Commission (MEC), in partnership with the MassCEC, is hosting a Solar 101 workshop. This free presentation will provide information about the basics of going solar, the Solarize Mass program, and a question-and-answer session with representatives from the MassCEC.
