Why Go: All eligible and new blood donors are encouraged to give blood.  Blood donors are needed everyday to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need. In March, all presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free lunch pack at Cumberland Farms, which includes a freshly prepared sandwich, any size fountain soda or frozen beverage, and a 1.5 oz. bag of Cumberland Farms brand chips.  Prizes are non-transferrable and not redeemable for cash. Why Go: Join Dara VanRemoortel in her popular monthly bedtime program for toddlers and their parents. Best for children ages 2 and older. Each program begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. Children are invited to attend in their PJ’s. No registration required.

Why Go: The Melrose Energy Commission (MEC) is hosting a free mini-workshop on Getting the Best Value in a Home Heating System. At the workshop, Jack Welch, a former MEC member and current member of the Melrose Planning Board, will describe the various options available to homeowners and explain how to choose an energy-efficient system. Travis Estes of Next Step Living, a Mass Save participating Home Performance Contractor, will provide information about financial incentives, including zero-interest loans that can cover the cost of the entire system.

Why Go: Seniors can learn this beautiful art while making new friends and enjoying good conversation. Yoong’s class is limited to 10, so please be sure to sign up at the reception desk. Cost $2 per session. All materials will be provided.

When/Where: Friday, March 30, 5-8 p.m. / Memorial Hall - Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building, 590 Main St., Melrose, MA | Get Directions »

Why Go: Travel to different countries. Enjoy cultural performances. Sample international foods. All of this and more without getting on an airplane at the free Melrose World Cultures Festival. Memorial Hall will be filled with presentations and food from local restaurants representing the rich cultural diversity that exists here in our community. Come to discover and learn about the traditions and celebrations from over a dozen countries including Brazil, Greece, Ireland, Italy, India, Turkey, Sweden and more. This event is organized by the Melrose Public Elementary Schools and parents and is supported in part by a grant from the Melrose Cultural Council. For more information please call 781-572-2485.
