Fun Activites at Dockside Community Day to Benefit Housing Families/The Rodman Ride

Malden, MA – Housing Families and Dockside Restaurants are organizing a Charitable Event on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 11am-10pm. The benefit will take place behind the Dockside Restaurant in Malden located at 229 Centre Street and will raise money to support Housing Families’ participation in the Rodman Ride for Kids. The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity raising funds for youth-focused social service agencies that support at-risk children in Massachusetts.  This year marks the third year that Housing Families will be one of the 48 affiliated agencies, and this year their goal is $80,000. When Housing Families meets or exceeds their goal, The Ride will match total donations by 10%.

The charitable day will consist of children’s activities ranging from a Moon Bounce, Obstacle Course, face painting, raffles and magic shows. The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department will be present for child fingerprinting. The Sheriff’s Department is also sponsoring mini pony rides. Cataldo Ambulance Service will have an ambulance and staff to provide ambulance tours and activities for children .EMTs from Cataldo will be on hand to answer questions about the ambulance and equipment. They will provide coloring books and Jr. Paramedic stickers. Live performances are being booked and groups scheduled to participate are: Malden’s Own Dave Russo Comedy, Dance with Brigitte School of Malden, Paula Terenzi’s Dance Complex of Malden, O’Shea Chaplin Irish Step Dancers of Melrose, Byrne’s Tang Soo Do Karate and Training Center of Malden, a Jazz Quartet from Berklee School of Music, Melrose Boot Camp,  Magician Jason Willinger, Pedro’s Judo Club of Wakefield, The 51 Shortfalls Band, acclaimed guitarist James Woolwine, graduate of Berklee School of Music, DJ Nomadik, and Dave Crespo’s After Party Band.

A fun feature of the day will be the “Celebrity” Dunk Tank. Scheduled to appear in the dunk tank are: Gary Christenson- Candidate for Mayor of Malden, Jack Urbaczewski- Dockside Restaurant, Ted Coates- Director of Malden Chamber of Commerce, Jim Goebelbecker- CEO Housing Families, Chris Simonellii-Candidate for Councilor at Large, Malden and David D’Arcangelo-Candidate for Councilor at Large, Malden. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day. There will be a $5 donation at the door with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Housing Families. Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free.
