14 year old pianist Kadar Qian is no stranger to the stage and has given more than 60 performances in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York City, including performances at Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, and Sanders Theatre. He recently appeared on the NPR radio show, From the Top, performing from the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach.   Melrose Symphony Orchestra conductor, Yoichi Udagawa, commented:  "I have never come across a young talent like Kadar Qian. When working with him, you completely forget that he just turned fourteen. I know the audience will love hearing this incredible young musician."

Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition

Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition was inspired by the drawings and watercolors of an artist’s travels. Melrose artist Tom Sutherland will join the orchestra and create a live painting during the performance as he is inspired by the music.

$10 Raffle tickets will be sold the night of the concert for a chance to win the finished painting (including professional framing by Miter Biter Frame Co.).

For Tickets:

General admission are tickets $29; Students $10.  Tickets can be purchased by cash or check only at Sweet Thoughts or Miter Biter Frame Co., Main Street, Melrose, or online at:  www.melrosesymphony.org
